BLOG 8: English language challenges

Hello everyone! Thanks for reading my last post of the semester 馃榿

Today I am going to write about my current challenges regarding the use of English.

First of all I have to say that I am currently not using English as much as I would like to. Lately I listen to more music in Spanish than in English, and the only way I use English is when I watch movies (but I still put the subtitles on, even when I understand what the characters are saying).

Because of my decreased use of the language, I think my deficiencies have increased. Now my English is not as fluent as it used to be and I get very nervous and insecure every time I have to speak or write. To improve my English I think I should listen to podcasts and music and also use the language in my daily life, maybe changing the language on my phone and using Duolingo or other apps where I can practice again.

So far I have only taken this English course at the university and I think it has been a challenge for everyone because it is hard to participate in all the online classes, and it is even harder if we have to speak in a non-native language.

About the use of blogs in this subject I would have liked to receive feedback from each of them, so that we could correct our mistakes. Sometimes I don't know if I use the right words or the right tenses :(

Finally, I would like to make a suggestion. It would be great if English was coordinated with the other subjects because it's not nice to have classes on vacations :( our brains are disconnected haha.

That's all, thx 4 reading 馃挅

BLOG 7: Changes to my study program

Hi everyone! Today I'm going to write about some changes I would make to the study program of my current career, Psychology.

First I want to tell that I am just finishing my first semester and I don't have much experience because I study online, so I am going to write about the program published by the university and how I expect it to be.

When I think about the different subjects I will take, I think they are all very interesting and important. Maybe the first semester subjects are not so entertaining because they are not directly related to Psychology, however I think they are necessary to realize if social sciences are great for you, so I wouldn't change any subject.

About technology I think this career doesn't use it as much as others. It's very important to learn Psychology by reading, but I think we could also learn some content in other ways related to technology, so I would add visual content or other interactive activities.

The above is related to teaching methods. I think that online the teachers can't teach their subjects as they would like to, but despite the difficulties, I think they all teach very well. When I hear them talk I realize that they love what they do and that makes me want to learn even more.

I want the pandemic to end so we will be able to use the buildings, and to live the real university experience (classes, parties, talks, friends). I hope to still be happy with the study program in a few years :)

BLOG 6: Traveling to the future

Hello!馃槃

Well, today I'm going to write about my choice about time and destiny if I could travel to the future.... I had never thought about it in depth, and the truth is that I don't have much imagination, but this is what I have come up with.

To travel to the future, I think I would have to enter in a frozen machine (like in Futurama) and stay there, waiting for time to pass. First I would stop in 2040 and I would go to my living place. I don't really have a plan life so I have no any idea if I will be living in Chile or maybe on Mars, but I would go anywhere just to see how my life is going and what kind of person I will have become. Maybe I would spy on my family and friends but I would not intervene in their lives because I trust that the future Dani will be wiser than the one of 2021.  Also, in 2040 I would like to take a walk around the city trying out new technological devices and having fun with them.

After that short visit I would get inside the machine again and I would go to the year 3000, 2500 or whatever the year when the human race begins to become extinct. I know it sound weird, but I think that it's very interesting to know about the natural disasters that will wipe us out and if I had the opportunity to live that experience, I would take it, even if I died there.

If I survive the natural events I don't think I would get back to 2021 because I don't want to stay at home anymore haha, but maybe being able to go back to 2025 would be fine with me.

BLOG 5: My future job as a psychologist

 Hi everyone!

Well, I'm in my first year of Psychology so I haven't deeply explored each area, but with my limited knowledge I could choose two options for a future job:

My first choice is forensic/legal psychology. In this field, psychology is combined with law and criminal justice. People who work in this area can do many jobs  related to helping judges understand criminal behavior, advising police and prison guards on the best ways to interact with criminals or assisting in counseling and rehabilitation programs, etc. I would like to be able to provide the necessary tools to both victims and perpetrators to overcome their situations.

My second choice is neuropsychology, which deals with the interaction between brain structure and human behavior. I think it is a very interesting area because it looks beyond the visible, and explores behavior from inside the body. I would love to be involved in the rehabilitation of patients with impaired cognitive functions or in any activity that can help people develop themselves better.... I think working in the field of neuropsychology is like opening a mysterious box.

Since I was little, I always imagined a job where I could travel a lot or, at least, always be on the move. I don't think this job fulfills that, but I can handle it or maybe find a way to make it active. About the salary, I think it's okay because I don't want to be a millionaire, just live carefree.

Both areas seem very interesting to me, I really see myself working in one of them. I hope to make the right decision in the future馃挭

BLOG 4 My favorite living thing: Pochi 馃挀

Hello everyone!!!

Today I am going to write about my adorable dog named Pochi, the only pet I have ever had in my whole life.

Pochi came into my life in the 2006 Christmas when she was 6 months old. At that time she was very playful and she was always chewing shoes, sofas or anything else, but when she grew up she became very obedient and learned many things, for example, sitting down before eating or going for the ball (that's her favorite game)

Throughout her life, Pochi has given me very amazing moments because sometimes she behaves like a weirdo and that really makes me laugh馃槀 For example she lets kids stick their fingers in her eyes, she loves kids and lets them do whatever with her hahah. Another thing she does is that when she is energetic I tell her "perra loca" and she starts running all over the place, like she is playing tag. She also loves to play football with me, she is the best pichanga player... who knows you, Messi??馃槑

Now she is 15 years old. She is blind and also has hip problems, so during the day she likes to be quiet and she prefers walking instead of playing. In spite of that, every afternoon she barks asking me for her walk, and for 20-30 minutes she runs, plays, and you can almost think she is a young dog with no problems

Pochi came into my life when she was 5 years old and she has been a true friend to me ever since. We have grown up together and it really breaks my heart to see her grow old.... Now I cry thinking about her because I don't want her to go :(

I believe that adopting a pet is the best decision a person can make in their life馃挀

BLOG 3: The role of the psychologists

Hello everyone! Today I decided to write about the importance of going to psychological therapy.

Psychology is understood as the social science that helps us to understand different human behaviors, as well as their interaction with the outside world.

To understand the role of psychology, we must understand that each person is a whole world of thoughts, problems, worries and experiences and each one faces reality according to their capabilities and possibilities, so the main task of a psychologist is to guide and help people to handle difficult situations.

Psychologists help many people by listening to different types of problems. Some people consult a psychologist because they feel depressed or anxious, sometimes they want guidance in achieving a specific goal (for example, getting a new job or taking a difficult exam) or coping with stressful situations (a very current example is how to continue handling the confinement after a year of quarantine).

Whatever the problem is, it is very important to understand as a society that going to psychological therapy is very good for us and for the people around us. Feeling good about ourselves and having a good mental health will help us to improve our quality of life and our relationships with other people and it will be easier to project our life in the future. So if you feel bad, don't be afraid to look for help and go to therapy馃挏

BLOG 2: The Best Concert Ever

Hello everyone!

Today I'm going to tell you about the best concert I've ever been to and it was Moral Distra铆da's concert at Movistar Arena 2 years ago. I'm not a big fan of the band but I went to the concert with my two best friends (one of them is a big fan of the band) and that made the experience something amazing. We were all very excited because it was the first concert we went together, so we really enjoyed the event.

Moral Distra铆da is a Chilean band founded in 2010 that fuses urban and tropical music. It's formed by ten members, and all of them are responsible for creating an atmosphere of life, colors and unity in each of their events (at least that's what they transmitted to me that day and what I feel when I listen to their music).

Now I am going to tell you about my experience:

That day we arrived at the Movistar Arena very early and while waiting we played cards and talked a lot. It was a sunny day so before entering the stadium I wasn't feeling very well, but everything changed when the doors opened and we started running towards the stage. We managed to get to the front row and that made us very happy and motivated馃拑馃拑. I remember that I was dancing and laughing during the whole event and I was very sad when it was over :(

After the concert I started listening to Moral Distra铆da a lot, but the highlight  for me was the beautiful experience I had with my friends... I will always remember that day as one of the best days of my life.

I couldn't find the photos I took that day :( This is one I found in Google showing the band's vocalists
