BLOG 5: My future job as a psychologist

 Hi everyone!

Well, I'm in my first year of Psychology so I haven't deeply explored each area, but with my limited knowledge I could choose two options for a future job:

My first choice is forensic/legal psychology. In this field, psychology is combined with law and criminal justice. People who work in this area can do many jobs  related to helping judges understand criminal behavior, advising police and prison guards on the best ways to interact with criminals or assisting in counseling and rehabilitation programs, etc. I would like to be able to provide the necessary tools to both victims and perpetrators to overcome their situations.

My second choice is neuropsychology, which deals with the interaction between brain structure and human behavior. I think it is a very interesting area because it looks beyond the visible, and explores behavior from inside the body. I would love to be involved in the rehabilitation of patients with impaired cognitive functions or in any activity that can help people develop themselves better.... I think working in the field of neuropsychology is like opening a mysterious box.

Since I was little, I always imagined a job where I could travel a lot or, at least, always be on the move. I don't think this job fulfills that, but I can handle it or maybe find a way to make it active. About the salary, I think it's okay because I don't want to be a millionaire, just live carefree.

Both areas seem very interesting to me, I really see myself working in one of them. I hope to make the right decision in the future馃挭

BLOG 4 My favorite living thing: Pochi 馃挀

Hello everyone!!!

Today I am going to write about my adorable dog named Pochi, the only pet I have ever had in my whole life.

Pochi came into my life in the 2006 Christmas when she was 6 months old. At that time she was very playful and she was always chewing shoes, sofas or anything else, but when she grew up she became very obedient and learned many things, for example, sitting down before eating or going for the ball (that's her favorite game)

Throughout her life, Pochi has given me very amazing moments because sometimes she behaves like a weirdo and that really makes me laugh馃槀 For example she lets kids stick their fingers in her eyes, she loves kids and lets them do whatever with her hahah. Another thing she does is that when she is energetic I tell her "perra loca" and she starts running all over the place, like she is playing tag. She also loves to play football with me, she is the best pichanga player... who knows you, Messi??馃槑

Now she is 15 years old. She is blind and also has hip problems, so during the day she likes to be quiet and she prefers walking instead of playing. In spite of that, every afternoon she barks asking me for her walk, and for 20-30 minutes she runs, plays, and you can almost think she is a young dog with no problems

Pochi came into my life when she was 5 years old and she has been a true friend to me ever since. We have grown up together and it really breaks my heart to see her grow old.... Now I cry thinking about her because I don't want her to go :(

I believe that adopting a pet is the best decision a person can make in their life馃挀

BLOG 3: The role of the psychologists

Hello everyone! Today I decided to write about the importance of going to psychological therapy.

Psychology is understood as the social science that helps us to understand different human behaviors, as well as their interaction with the outside world.

To understand the role of psychology, we must understand that each person is a whole world of thoughts, problems, worries and experiences and each one faces reality according to their capabilities and possibilities, so the main task of a psychologist is to guide and help people to handle difficult situations.

Psychologists help many people by listening to different types of problems. Some people consult a psychologist because they feel depressed or anxious, sometimes they want guidance in achieving a specific goal (for example, getting a new job or taking a difficult exam) or coping with stressful situations (a very current example is how to continue handling the confinement after a year of quarantine).

Whatever the problem is, it is very important to understand as a society that going to psychological therapy is very good for us and for the people around us. Feeling good about ourselves and having a good mental health will help us to improve our quality of life and our relationships with other people and it will be easier to project our life in the future. So if you feel bad, don't be afraid to look for help and go to therapy馃挏
